Deep Democracy Forum

Our story began in a cafeteria at the last day of Worldwork Warsaw in April 2015 when Hubert and Lea, after 7 days of emotional intensity, imagined what it would be like if we were to continue to process the many roles, the feelings, the powers and the collective dreams that play out in the arena of our lives. For many who attended that event, coming to Warsaw was an immediate confrontation with their own history, it left us with a new understanding of the complexity of History and an acute sense of urgency to become, all of us, guardians of the future.

Today we are a group of 6 individuals from different part of the UK. Over the past couple of years, we have been talking about our feelings,  our history, the different histories and unique experiences each of us brings and the challenges we face.
We have come together to make space for our stories that are so different, and yet belong together. Not merely by relating through our past stories, but by enquiring as to the roles each of us is expressing and uncovering what is not spoken, but organises the field.
We have come together to continue to enquire: where are we now? and how can we use the relating of our past, today to address conflict in our communities?
We aim to to foster the skills needed to facilitate deep democracy forums as a space to process the hot issues of our day. To date, we have explored several issues which loom large in our collective consciousness.

We run a forum every other month. Each forum is facilitated by a pair of facilitators immersed in the study of process work, conflict transformation and facilitation.

Deep Democracy Forum is a collaboration of individuals with the support of Act for Change. Our project, Catching the Past in the Future has received funding from Awards for All.
